(Letter from Advo sent via email) It's finally here. It's finally available. My mixtape. (drum roll) ..... "BARMAGGEDON" ....Lol. I wanted to go a little darker on this one. A little more street then "Point Of No Return". It's been a rough few years for everyone. I felt like another "Point Of No Return" wouldn't exactly stamp the times we are living in. I know alot of you get a million emails with people saying download my new cd ...blah blah blah ... but I am gonna be honest ... this is a masterpiece. The total package ... lyrics, beats, and most of all concepts. Take the few seconds to download this. This is one of the best mixtapes you will ever hear .... yes .... that you will ever hear. Right now you can download it free at this link http://www.zshare.net/download/554890210aabca7a/# . I have a song called "Trading Places" (which is actually a leak off my album) .... in this song I trade places with a victim that died in a horrible tragedy ..for example 911, V.A. Tech Massacre, and Hurricane Katrina and have them tell there unheard story through me. I have a song "9678" WHICH RECAPS MY FAVORITE YEARS IN HIPHOP! 1996,1997, and 1998. This joint will bring back memories trust me. You can see the video for this song here. I have joints for the ladies like "Better Then Me" and "Just Wanna Know Remix". And of course the street anthem "Soldya Muzik (Lie Detector). The list goes on. You can hear individual songs off the mixtape at my myspace or at my website www.thadvocate.com.

Also, on the same day as my release we (Myself and Ballerstatus) dropped Digital Dynasty Vol. 5 With Crooked I. You can read the article and download that mixtape aswell at this link.

Once you download my mixtape and hear it ... if you want to purchase a high quality cd, with case and cover (and shipping included for only 5 bucks) you can do so by clicking here

I value everyones support with me through this journey. Right now I am headed to the lab to put some work in for "Designed To Be Signed". Once you hear it holla with some feedback!

Tha Advocate and Ballerstatus Release Killah Priest's New Mixtape "The Untold Story Of Walter Reed"

Tha Advocate and Ballerstatus Release Killah Priest's New Mixtape "The Untold Story Of Walter Reed"

Wu-Tang affiliate Killah Priest has teamed up with BallerStatus.com and our in-house artist Tha Advocate to give our readers and his fans an exclusive free download of his brand new street mixtape The Untold Story Of Walter Reed.

The 20+ track release features brand new exclusive freestyles to keep fans' mouths watering while he readies the release of his next full length LP, The Psychic World Of Walter Reed.

"I want to tell the fans at BallerStatus, this is just grass roots Priest, the rapper says. "I'm just coming at you in your face. I'm just giving away gems. I'm the Priest that's just emceeing."

The Untold Story Of Walter Reed is strictly Killah Priest, aside from appearances by his artists Starkim and G/Ciples, both gracing the free mixtape with their own freestyles.

Priest says the new tape ranks up with some of his best mixtapes, but admits it's not his best. However, he makes it clear that the music is a problem regardless.

"As far as mixtapes, it's up there, but not my best. That's soon to come," Killah Priest says. "But, as far as rhyming? It's going to be way better than 99% of the albums out right now. Oh, I forgot it's a drought out here, as far as dope songs go."

So, here's some new Killah to sink your teeth into. The rapper revealed that he will drop a Pt. 2 to this tape just before his album The Psychic World Of Walter Reed hits stores.

Want To Be On Digital Dynasty Vol. 5 Hosted by Crooked I ???

After four successful installments of our free Digital Dynasty mixtape series, we're here with #5. And to help us usher in our fifth free digital mixtape is none other than underground phenom and newly anointed Slaughterhouse group member Crooked I.

On the heels of a 50,000+ download count -- and featured on ThisIs50.com -- of Digital Dynasty Part 4 with Chamillionaire, we're confident that Part 5 will be as successful, if not more successful than our last.

"It's your boy Crooked I, the West's kept secret. It's only right for me to team up with Tha Advocate and BallerStatus.com," Crooked said. "Another installment of Digital Dynasty. This is a dynasty. You other mixtape series are in shambles right now. Ya'll like the motherf***in' financial stability of this country. Ya'll in shambles."

"I am excited to release Digital Dynasty Part 5 with one of the best lyricists in the game," says our resident rapper, Tha Advocate. "I been telling dudes about Crooked I since '99. It's good ten years later he is starting to get his proper due."

Like we've done with every installment thus far, we're leaving slots open for those aspiring artists who haven't gotten the shine they deserve to showcase their skills, signed or unsigned.

As we prepare the tape's release, we're looking for that heat. So, for those interested, email Tha Advocate at shadowfalinx@hotmail.com for more information about how to acquire a slot.

In addition to Digital Dynasty 5, which will drop in early March, Tha Advocate will include -- as part of a bundled download -- his personal mixtape Barmaggedon.

For the fans, keep checking back for the release.

Meet - J.D. Artist

Today Soldya Muzik is kicking it with an R n B artist named J.D. Artist. J.D. has been several records from Tha Advocate and others. He made appearances on Advo's, "Point Of No Return", (Hosted by Remy Ma) and Shawn Blayze's , debut mixtape, "Watch For Me". J.D. made a memorable appearance on "The N.E.W. PT 2", which featured Sic O Syrus and others. "New PT. 2" was on Digital Dynasty Volume 2, Hosted by DTP/Def Jam's Willy Northpole. That mixtape hit close to the 100 thousand download mark. J.D. will be on Tha Advocate's new upcoming mixtape "Barmaggedon", "Designed To Be Signed" (the album) and he will debut his new club single on the new Digital Dynasty Volume 4 hosted by Chamillionaire. J.D. started to make his mark in 08 with the video "Missing Me" and is featured in the heavily rotated "9678", from Tha Advocate. This year marks the debut album from J.D. Artist, "Story Of My Life", coming in mid 2009. Anyway .... the interview went something like this....

For starts where did the name come from?

My real name is John D. Artist

Where are you reppin?

I was raised in Harlem,NY. When I was 21 I moved to Yonkers, about a block from where the Lox are from.

What made you pick up a mic and get busy?

I started young but put it aside. Then my cousin told me about a friend of his (Tha Advocate) that needed an R&B hook done. Ever since I did the hook for “Maybe you should kill me” for Advo, I got the buzz back!

Who were your influences to get into music?

All the old heads, My Dad was in a group called Buffalo Soldiers, Marvin, Al Greene, and Eddie Levert, I do like Dave Hollister, also.

In your "Missing Me" video it had a nice twist at the end. Can we expect to see any more videos like that soon?

Yeah, I like working out different concepts for the videos. Advo and I collaborated on the concept and it worked out well.

Are you on a label? If so let us know.....

Not yet, but hopefully soon.

Any new projects coming out? Any features?

I did a track called "Shake Your Hips". It’s a club joint that will debut on the Ballerstatus/Tha Advocate mixtape, Digital Dynasty Volume 4" hosted by Chamillionaire !!

Also, an album "Story Of My Life", coming soon.

Are you disapointed in RnB nower days or impressed with it?

I do respect R&B now but, there is not much feeling in the songs of today like there used to be with Marvin, Ojays, Temptations ect.

Name a Golden year in RnB in your opinion?

I would say 1987. Keith sweat and Aaron Hall did their thing

How would you describe your style of music?

I would call it lifestyle. I write my songs from life experience. I have a track called “The Story Of My Life”, and that is what it is. Every song should have some realism to it. That’s where the feeling comes from in a song.

Whats your goal for the music game?

I’m not trying to change the world. If my music is appreciated by some, I’m happy. If that one person can identify with my story, My job is done.
Does you agenda include trying to change whats going on nowerdays?

I think everyone should be entitled to express themselves in their own way. So you should do just that.

If you had to compare yourself to any 2 singers dead or alive ..who would they be?

That’s hard, because on some tracks I’ve been told I sound like Gerald Levert, and on some I’m just J.D. So I’ll leave the comparing to the public.

Does major ringtone sales make up for bad albums sales?

I don’t think they do. Music is music and ringtones are ringtones. But in the end if it gets you another check why not.
Who is a better singer to you .... Usher or R Kelly?

That’s a tough one cause creatively speaking R Kelly hands down. But I lost a lot of respect for Kells since I have 2 daughters myself, so respect wise Usher will take it. You gotta respect the family man.

That's real. Kells is like the O.J. of RnB now. Back To The Norm....... Name 1 song you've done that will have the Soldyamuzik.blogspot.com viewers hooked?

Wow! I’m hoping “Shake Your Hips” will tear up the clubs.

Thanks for hollering at us and in closing give any shoutouts...F.U.'S or whatevers clever?

Yeah shouts to Advo, Jeff Burna, and my biggest fans of course my family. Jonai, Chyna, Snowie,Rell, the whole Artist family, and Ding for having my back.

WANT A SLOT ON --Digital Dynasty 3, Hosted By The Alchemist, Coming Soon

BallerStatus.com is back with yet another installment of our Digital Dynasty mixtape series. Now, we're on Volume 3.

After two successful releases -- the first with hosted by G-Unit's Hot Rod and the second by DTP's Willy Northpole -- BallerStatus and our resident producer/rapper Tha Advocate are getting close to dropping the next installment.

This time around, we've tapped famed producer The Alchemist to play host, alongside Infamous Mobb's Big Twin, both of which navigate fans through our digital mixtape.

"If you got volume 1, you know what's up. If you got volume 2 ... f***ing congratulations," said The Alchemist. "Who else gets 100,000+ downloads from the first two volumes? BallerStatus.com is in the building."

"They say third time's a charm. If this don't prove it, nothing will," added Tha Advocate. "The success of our first two volumes is incredible. But this right here is gonna set up the proper platform for a takeover in 09."

Like each previously volumes, we've opened up slots to indie artists, looking for more exposure, by letting only the dopest artists' tracks appear.

Those interested in finding out how to get on Digital Dynasty Vol. 3, email Tha Advocate @ shadowfalinx@hotmail.com for further details.

Here's just a taste of what will come in just a few more weeks. This is "The N.E.W. Pt. 3" from Tha Advocate and several up-and-comers dropping heat. Check it out and download it at ZShare.

Digital Dynasty Vol. 3, hosted by The Alchemist and Big Twin, will drop exclusively here at BallerStatus.com in the coming weeks.

Also, if you haven't already, cop The Alchemist's latest release, The Alchemist's Cookbook, a digital EP with six brand new tracks -- including guest spots from Snoop, Prodigy, Styles P, Jadakiss and others. It's in stores now.

Stay tuned.

Meet - Big Gib

Today we are kicking it with a new up and coming rapper named Big Gib. For starts where did the name come from?

Well my last name is Gibson. So people called me Gib and then it just went from Gib to Big Gib. I Upped My Soldya Game! (laughs)

Where are you reppin?

First and foremost Tha A-State a.k.a Tha A.R.K. Arkansas all day every day. All of Arkansas. I've been all over the state and got people everywhere so I'm not gonna limit myself to just one city cause I grew up in multiple cities throughout different times in my life. But I am from the other great H-Town, Hazen, Arkansas. Speaking of the other H-Town though right now I'm currently in Texas doing some more growing know what im sayin. So imma represent where I be at too fa sho. And right now its Central Texas.

What made you pick up a mic and get busy?

Man I don'-t even remember. I've been writing so long I cant even remember the first time I wrote some shit. I know it was at least 5 grade. And I would write off and on and it just was my release for everything I was going through. Once I turned 13 I got worse and more shit started happening in life so I wrote more and more. Now I try to write and prevent the youth from having to go through anything along and just for them to have something to relate too when they going through shit and dont know what they gone do cause I've been there.

Who were your influences to get into hiphop?

Damn theres so many. Tupac, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Ludacris, Chamillionaire, Bun B, Pimp C (R.I.P), Lil Keke, Scarface, T.I., shit really there are so many I could never name them all.

We heard you are in the military and will be going back to Iraq soon.
Are you dreading that ? How much time is left in your contract?

Yeah we are supposed to be going back next year. I definitely am dreading it but not because I'm scared of dying or anything like that. I dread it because I'm not looking forward to being that out of touch with my fans, and with the rest of the world. But as soon as I get back best believe the game is over. I have 4 years left in my contract I get out in 2012.

Is it hard to balance a military career and an inspiring music career?

Oh yeah it definitely is. Having a successful music career isn't just about the music, its about your connections with your fans too. Its about how much you really get out there and grind for it. So finding time to write, record, promote, and everything else and at the same time work around my army training and everything is really tough. Like I said earlier that's the only reason I dont want to go back to Iraq right now is because I feel like I have such good momentum right now and being gone for 12 months can really crush that. But its all good cause I am here and I'm always gonna be here!

If you can go back ...would you still joint the service?

Yeah I definitely would have joined. Like T.I. said "Some move away to make a way, Not move away cause they afraid". I had to take the initiative and get out of the situations I was in and the way I was living so I could do great things for myself and go back and do great things for those that have stood by my side.

Are you on a label? If so let us know.....

Im on my label : Divine Musik Records. I do not have a major label deal right now but honestly I dont even know if a major would know what to do wit me right now im so cold.

Any new projects coming out? Any featu
res?

Yeah I got a couple new joints in the works right now. First and foremost we got Big Gib feat. Tha Advocate "Love Of The Game". Of course that joint goes hard and you can check it out exclusively on Digital Dynasty Vol. 3 presented by ballerstatus.com and Tha Advocate. So yall head on over to ballerstatus.com and go and download that Digital Dynasty Vol. 3 it should be out in the next couple months.

I Also got a couple solo joints in the works right now. Be on the lookout for my next single called "I Made It" and soon after that I hope to be dropping "Up Ya SoldYa Game"!

As for right now everyone should be hittin up myspace.com/divinerecordsbiggib and peepin all the game I got posted there. And if you haven't got it already go to itunes and get Divine Musik Presents: Seven On Da ComeOut. The first official mixtape from Divine Musik and Big Gib!

You are from the South, but have a universal sound. Your lyrics are also universal. Is it important to you to not "sound local" ?

You know its really not. And to me its not even about choosin this sound or that sound. What I spit comes from the heart. And my process of writing doesn't allow me choose a style. Whatever comes out and how it comes out is what you get. Whether you think it sounds North, South, East, West its gonna be hot.

How would you describe your style of hiphop?

I wouldn't really say I have a certain style. I like to switch it up and just make music everyday people can relate to.

Whats your goal for the hiphop game?

My ultimate goal is to just be able to have a positive effect on the people's lives around me and on anyones that listens to my music. Yeah Bentleys and Mansions are cool but before all that theres people I have to take care of. Thats why I do this!

Does it frustrate you that to get major spins or radio play you have to say "drop it,shawty, back it up"...etc.?

You know it definitely does. But then again at the same time it doesnt. Let me explain. Even if you aint sayin those things you can still get played on radio and get spins in numerous places. You might have to work harder and you might not reach the same audience but you can do it. And if you are that hot then you are going to get your major spins and radio play one day anyway. And these dudes that are just on the radio cause they can come up with a catchy hook or gimmick they are not going to be in the game 10 years from now when I am. They aint gone last. So I dont even let it phase me.

If you had to compare yourself to any 2 rappers dead or alive ..who would they be?

Im just gonna compare myself to 1 and thats Big Gib. I have alot of influences from many rappers: Jay-Z, Tupac, Em, Wayne, Jeezy, Kanye, UGK, Chamillionaire, Juelz Santana, Webbie, and I feel like that I'm on a level to compete with all of them. I can switch up styles and do any type of track. And I can make any type of track you want and make it believable cause I spit real shit from the heart and from experiences. But I can only compare myself to Me.

Here at SoldyaMuzik we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm.We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you.So lets get it cracking ....

Are you happy about Obama being elected?

Hell Yeah! Its about damn time. I was excited enough just to have Bush leave office. But now its like on a whole other level. This is such a triumph and sign of the strength and unity of this country and is a really big win for the little guys who have always felt like they was never gonna get there. Well now we got something!

Do you think change will really come?

I really do. I don't think its going to come just from Obama being president and anything he will do particular. But I think Obama being elected marks a great symbol of change for the better for this country. And I think people are inspired by that and Obama mixed with an inspired country of people will definitely create some change!

Are you more concerned with global warming or the state of hiphop?

Definitely the State of Hip Hop. If global warming continues to happen and the country heats up some more that is not going to get people out the streets and educated and going in the right direction. If we fix the state of hip hop maybe we could help more people get out the struggle and going in the right direction. And I think people would rather be hot than to continue without hope. Mother fuckers need to stop fuckin the game up. For real. Learn the rules homeboy.

Does major ringtone sales make up for bad albums sales?

I think it helps. I don't think it completely makes up for it. But I do see it as a point where people might download your album for free but after they hear it if its bangin they will go pay for a ringtone for it. So its win/lose to me. But in this day and age thats just what we face so you gotta be ready for it. You have to have a plan to market yourself and get yourself out there in more ways than just albums. Cause in today's game that shit just aint gonna set you alone.

Who would win in a battle ..Cassidy in his prime or Canibus in his hayday?
